MANAGE CISCO ROUTER ON SIM 4.1
Hello,
I have a project to install SIM4.1 on a server and receive snmp traps from a cisco router 1710 (interface status + VPN infos)
i have done some tests without results and i search the forum also ...
that is what i try :
- on the cisco i enable snmp-server host ipsim version 1 public
- on SIM i add manualy the router.
i have nothing. so i have look that i have to import mib into SIM.
i go to cisco site, search and download mibV1.tar for my router. A lot of file after that !
i try the command to make the configuration file from .mib and add the .cfg after that. After some tries i got a result, but in SNMP TRAP browser in SIM interface, i can see the mib i have import, but no traps in it ..
Someone have a little method to do that ??
Thanks !

Re: MANAGE CISCO ROUTER ON SIM 4.1
I'm not familiar with the router.
Can you generate SNMP Traps from the Router?
You will need to tell the Router where to send SNMP traps, that should be your SIM Server.

Re: MANAGE CISCO ROUTER ON SIM 4.1
The mibs you downloaded must not contain Trap Definition section where objects are defined as "TRAP-TYPE".
If that is not there, HP SIM will not be able to recongnize the traps.

Re: MANAGE CISCO ROUTER ON SIM 4.1
I don't know about the structure of MIB.
I just go to Cisco site and download SNMP V1 MIB for my router.
(1710 V1 MIB, one tar that contains a lot of).
the same some people use in Insight manager v7.
