Manually adding servers for ping monitoring
I have added several Stand Alone servers to our IM interface just for ping monitoring. They do not show up with any health status. When I go into configure system protocols, I enable ping (IMCP) settings and hit okay at the bottom. I then go back into the settings and the option is not enable and at the bottom in red letters is the phrase "No protocol setting update has been specified yet".
My question is how do I configure SA servers for basic ping monitoring? Also, when I do add servers manually (Options -> Discovery -> Manual), where can I find the logs for IMs discoveries?
Lastly, if I can get these SA servers monitored by IM, can I then define authentication for these SA servers to do further monitoring of services, disk space, etc.?
We are running:
Operating system: Windows 2003
Version: Systems Insight Manager 5.0 - Windows
Build version: C.05.00.00.00
Build date: 2005-08-04 16:56
Thanks,
Scott

Re: Manually adding servers for ping monitoring
What kind of servers are these SA servers?
If they're HP and have the agents in shouldn't matter that they're standalone.
Can you ping them (just use ping from a cmd prompt) from the HPSIM Server? Ping may be blocked from parts of your infrastructure.
