More Java woes

Hi all,

I recently took up the offer of a newer PC (marginally faster) and have regretted it ever since. I used to be able to run SIM (v4.1) on my PC with no problems, but now I cannot. The issue is that whenever I clear the screensaver, I lose functionality where the Java screen shows whatever was on the foreground screen, ie: I don't get the rotating clock and then the data. Refreshes don't work and changing SIM screens doesn't work (the screen change registers if it's just text, but when I go back to a java screen such as 'All Events' pr 'All Systems', I get the foreground image again. I have to logout and log back in again. I am using v1.4.1_07 of Java. Screenshot attached if I haven't explained myself well enough :-)

Re: More Java woes

Try clearing the Java Caches, done from the Java Console Panel.

A more complete approach, remove all JRE's and download the latest from Sun (I'm using 1.4.2_05)

Get rid of any Java cache files or directories and then install the new JRE.

Re-fire up the HPSIM Login.

HPSIM works fine with JRE 1.4.2_05

Re: More Java woes

Rob,

Thanks. Clearing the caches didn't fix it, but uninstalling 1.4.1_07, deleting all remnants on the hard disk, rebooting, reinstalling with 1.4.1_05 (and repeating the sequence twice) appears to now be working. I will leave this open for an hour or two to be sure.

Thanks for your help.

Re: More Java woes

As described in the last note, this has been resolved and, in addition to that, it would seem my other Java problems have gone away too. So, the moral of the story is to clear out "Documents and Settings\USERID\Application Data\Sun" when you've uninstalled all JRE's totally.
