MP unknown, and Repository not regognized

Two problems remaining on my install of HP SIM:

1) The Management Processor remains undiscovered on the server.

I am positive that I have my SNMP traps configured properly (all other relavant data displays in the systems list). After clicking on the icon, I am presented with the image of possible solutions to the problem... I am convinced that either "e" or "f" is my silver bullet, but I can't find the information I need to solve either the "e" (remote management driver not installed) or "f" (XML mesages turned off) possibilities.

2) Even more frustrating is that my Version Control Agent is not recognizing my repository, which has been installed and populated with a PSP. When I attempt to "Select the Reference Support Pack" I am given the following message:

"No inventory information is available to obtain a list of Support Packs from. A valid Version Control Repository Manager that contains one or more Support Packs must be configured before a Reference Support Pack may be selected. If you have just selected a repository, please wait a few minutes and then refresh this page. "

But I _do_ have such a repository created.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Re: MP unknown, and Repository not regognized

1) In the Automatic Discovery Section Uncheck the Discovery Filters. They may be being unrecognised.
Have the ILO's been given IP Addresses? and are these IP Addresses in the Discovery range?

2) I take it you've downloaded the complete Softpaqs relevant to your site into a suitable directory structure. I tend to have a top-lvele directory with sub-dirs for the different softpaqs and a non-softpaq dir.
You then configure the VCRM to point to this top level dir.
You may need to refresh the catalogue.
A good check that the VCRM has accessed the repository is that each cp?????.exe will have a corresponding .mnf file.

Another thing that surprised me with the VCRM configuration is that the username and password it's expecting is the WBEM account - initially I configured it with Windows authentication credentials.

Re: MP unknown, and Repository not regognized

The MP is working now. Hooray! It was the IP range. I didn't even think to check that. Thank you for the help. Points coming :)

My Repository _is_ populated with the ProLiant Support Pack 7.10a. I have no trouble logging in with the proper credentials, but it's still telling me that no Repository Manager is present. Still perplexed.

Also, a sidenote: a co-worker from a different department claims that when he goes to a peice of hardware in the System Management Homepage - say the NIC - he is shown the current driver, and whether there are updates for that driver.

Is this indeed a feature in that part of the HP SIM? I haven't seen those results on my install yet, and the co-worker is reluctant to make the time to show me.

Any insight would be appreciated. (no pun intended)

Re: MP unknown, and Repository not regognized

Francis,

When you say that the VCRM is not available do you mean there is no link from the System Management Home Page to the VCRM?

The VCA (version control agent) when configured to connect to the VCRM will display a list of all installed and latest versions of the Proliant SW installed on the server.

Re: MP unknown, and Repository not regognized

No, there was a link on the links page, but when I would go to the agent, and attempt change the agent settings and "Select the Version Control Repository Manager" it would tell me that there is no software available because the software version repository has not been configured.

But, suddenly it's working. Didn't change a thing, but the logs tell me that there was an automatic update this morning. Perhaps that triggered something to make it work. *shrug*

Thanks for the help! :)
