Netware servers appears only as ip address

Hello,
I'm using SIM 4.1 Sp1 and I have a problem with Netware servers.
They appear as IP address and not the server name.
What should I do to solve this?

Hi Oren, we are using HP SIM 4.2 and in a few cases experience the same effect after server import from a hosts file. Can't tell you why that is, but how about renaming the servers manually? You'll find the link on the System Page ("Edit System Properties", administrator rights needed). Ok, it's a workaround that suites only, if the involved manual work is somehow limited, but it helped me ...

The option that Jens has mentioned is not available in 4.1 -- FYI

One way that i can think of is that you can edit the OS hosts file on the CMS, delete the system from HPSIM and rediscover it.

NetWare doesn't play with all of the tools available like Winbloz or Linux.

With the SUSE Linux, they are getting better but NetWare is small (albeit growing) portion.

Do you have a DNS entry for this Netware server? {It must be in the DNS server that SIM uses - You may also create a local host file on the SIM server).

I have a DNS configured in the Netware servers.
I've tried deleting a server and re-discover but still the ip appears.
I will try upgrading the SIM to the latest version and see if it will solve the problem.

It's not important to have DNS configured on the Netware for SIM. You need to have an *entry* in your *DNS server*. SIM will ask the DNS server for a name for each IP it found/has. If the DNS server doesn't have a name for an IP, SIM will just use the IP.

So if you go to the SIM server and type:

nslookup [the ip of the Netware Server]

Example:
nslookup 192.168.1.1

What do you get, also if you have more than one IP tied to the server what do you get on on the IP's configred on the Netware server?

What do you get when you when you use the server name?

nslookup [NetWare Server Name]
