Recently upgraded from CIM7 to SIM4.1. Chose not to import since there are only 25 servers. Discovery seemed to fail for 3 servers, but we found that actually 4 servers are stepping on each others IP addresses. For these 4 servers, regardless of the order of discovery, the first server looks OK. The second server makes the first server disappear from SIM and SIM shows that it has both its IP address and the IP address of the first server. The third server makes the second server disappear and shows that it has the IP addresses for itself and the first 2 servers. Likewise the 4th server bumps the third and takes all four IP addresses. If all 4 are deleted and rediscovered in a different order, the same thing happens. These four servers were created from a single ghost image and ghost-walked. We have checked all hosts files and DNS. The servers are functioning normally in an AD forest, so name resolution does not appear to be the problem. Agent versions on the servers are a mixture of 6.30, 5.40 and 7.10

Solution
This typically happens when the servers were installed from an image which included the insight agents. The result is that the 4 servers all have the same agent GUID.
The solution is to delete and recreate a Unique GUID for the Insight Agent Host in the registry. In order to do this follow the instructions below:
1. Stop the Foundation Agents Service
2. Start/Run/Regedit
3. Goto HKEY_Local_Machine
4. Select the Software\Compaq Insight Agent folder and locate the hostGUID
5. Select and delete the value hostGUID
6. Restart the Foundations Agents Service.
When the Foundation Agents restart a unique Host GUID is created.
