Ok so I need some advice
Currently running 5.0 sp5 build version C.0500.02.00 and I'm looking to upgrade for DST. After reading the forums for the past couple of weeks im a little scared to do an in-place upgrade.
Would it be better to build out a new 5.1 on a new server with a new database?
Thanks

Re: Ok so I need some advice
If you have the resources then building a new server would certainly be safer.
If you keep the old one going it is easy to migrate and recreate the settings in the new version.
I removed the old and reinstalled a new version, prior to that I took copies of Discovery Ranges, Event Handling tasks, Custom Commands etc.

Re: Ok so I need some advice
Ok thanks...I am just going to build a new server on a bl20. I figured if I keep the IP address the same all the servers will send a test trap to the new server and register there.
