OpenSSH Install Hangs, Service Not Installed
I'm trying to install the OpenSSH portion of HPSIM and it looks like the installation process is hanging and not fully completing. I eventually have to end task the process. Right now I'm installing it on a brand new (patched) install of W2K3 Enterprise, with only SQL 2000 SP3, UltraVNC, and Acrobat Reader installed on it. I had the same problem with my Win2K server so I decided to reformat and start over. Has anyone else had this problem? I just downloaded the HPSIM install files from the web site and it looks like the OpenSSH app is version 3.7.1p1-1.
Thanks in advance!

Re: OpenSSH Install Hangs, Service Not Installed
I'm not sure what I did exactly or why it works now but not during the three days installing, uninstalling, and searching for solutions. Here's what I did:
1. Extracted the zip/exe file I downloaded.
2. Uninstalled VNC and then disabled the VNC service.
3. Searched and deleted any reference to OpenSSH or cygwin in the registry.
4. Rebooted the server.
5. Connected through Terminal Services
6. Browsed to extracted files\OpenSSH and ran OpenSSH.exe
7. Mysteriously, it installed properly this time. The only difference I can really attribute to it is installing through TS since I had done all the other steps before.
8. Because I'm running W2K3, I configured the OpenSSH service to use a domain account with local admin privileges and re-booted the computer one last time.
9. Now I'm ready to finish configuring OpenSSH and install the rest of the components. Hmmm....

Re: OpenSSH Install Hangs, Service Not Installed
Oh yea, I also closed the Windows Explorer window I used to browse to the install file and exited the little SQL icon at the bottom right of the task bar. Maybe one of these was the contributing factor. The install program suggests that you close any open applications. Oh well, never thought Windows Explorer would cause problems installing an app.

Re: OpenSSH Install Hangs, Service Not Installed
I am having the same issue. Not sure what the problem is but here is what I discovered. Installing OpenSSH 3.7.1p1-1 with HPSIM 4.01. OpenSSH setup hangs with Not Responding in Win2k. Can't get it to run at all. Log off my domain account. Log on as local admin and it installs fine. The problem is that once it is installed it doesn't work at all. I have done all the troubleshooting tips and it does not work so I have to wonder why it hangs when installing using my domain account.
