PMP options in HP SIM

Hi,

According to the documentation, I should have the following options:

"To use Online Analysis, either click the monitored server icon from the Systems Insight
Manager PF column," <>

or:

"From the Systems Insight Manager console toolbar, click Optimize>Performance
Management Pack>Online Analysis." <<<<<
Nor can I do any of the following:
Click Reports>Performance Management Pack Reports.

Has anybody else come across this & if so, how did you fix it?

As well as getting sent 4,000+ e-mails every night, I'm really starting to loose faith in what was once an excellent product.

If anyone can help me, I'd really appreciate it.
Thanks
Alan.

Re: PMP options in HP SIM

Alan,
I think you may need to break things down into a number of separate issues.

I's start by disabling logging and alerting, just to reduce those e-mails.

When you say you don't have this for the Optimize section, what do you not have?
Is there an Optimize icon on the HPSIM toolbar?
If not, what version of HPSIM are you running and what version of PMP. Online Analysis should work the same as clicking on the PF Icon for a Server with a valid PMP License.

As for the number of e-mails, I'd try and narrow it down and see what the issue is. I've turned off alerting as well. I'd like a bit more control of the thresholds alerted on.

Rob,

Pls see comments below:

>>There is. When I click on "Optimize" all I get is Process Resource Manager and more options beneath that. No sign of online or offline analysis.

If not, what version of HPSIM are you running
>>Version: Systems Insight Manager 4.1 with SP1 - Windows
Build version: C.04.01.00.01
Build date: 2004-05-20 14:37

and what version of PMP.
>>ProLiant Essentials Performance Management Pack version 3.0
Online Analysis version 3.0

Online Analysis should work the same as clicking on the PF Icon for a Server with a valid PMP License.>>When I click on the PF icaon for a server I can do online analysis, no problem at all. I cannot do offline analysis which i need to be able to do.

As for the number of e-mails, I'd try and narrow it down and see what the issue is. I've turned off alerting as well. I'd like a bit more control of the thresholds alerted on. >>This is the issue that Mike sent a post to the forum about. I get a mailstorm evey night. Basically HP SIM sends me every single alert that it knows about. Approx 4000+ messages every night. Have opened a case with HP on this.

Thanks Rob.

Re: PMP options in HP SIM

Alan,
It looks as though PMP has not properly installed / integrated with HPSIM.

Under Optimize I have two entries, the second being Performance Management Pack.

I'm not sure if deleting and reinstalling PMP is a good option as I'm not too sure what happens to the license keys. But you might want to consider it or just reinstalling PMP.

As for installation, there used to be a problem when CIM 7/PMP was installed via a Terminal Services session - PMP install failed, although that was probably fixed in HPSIM.
