possible to create custom Event?

trying to figure out how to filter triggers for some 'critical' events (for example "Accelerator Board Status Change (3038)")
Does anyone know how to create a custom event? (IE, copy the critical events triggers and then filter out the unwanted 'critical' events) - I figure then I can set up my alerts to use the custom list instead of stock "Critical Events"
