problem upgrading from 5.0sp4 to 5.1

The . . . . continue almost two days later on a test computer DL360 G3; one Intel Xeon 2.8 GHZ processor; 3 GB RAM, Windows 2003 Server Standard Edition with sp # 1; SmartArray controller with mirrored disks,
little CPU time is being used; little I/O

The Insight SQL transcation log is growing slightly in size . . . backup the transaction log . . . shrinkg it . . . it grow again . . .something is going on . . . HP?/ any advice ..
Total of 3,800 devices in the health status screen . . . 35,000 uncleared event status . . .

Deleting unneeded nodes on the production system . . . re-run test above, get down to about 1,500 devices (800 computers, 700 printers), events down to about 10,000


What is going on?
Any updates of Insight took a few hours
(ex. Insight 4.2 to Insight 5.0
Insight 7.2 to Insight 4.2 - not a typo, the version number went backwards)

The problem:

The . . . . (for almost two days) occurs when running the
mxinitconfig -a command.

c:\mxinitconfig -a as listed in the above postings

This is a part of a HP SIM 5.0 sp # 5 to HP SIM 5.1 sp # 1 upgrade.

The HP SIM 5.1 sp # 1 setup.exe ended with an error, stating to run the
mxinitconfig -a command to finish this installation.

This, too, is listed in the above postings.

Just to clarify, the
mxinitconfig -a is running on the HP Proliant computer which runs the HP SIM software.
This is the computer with Microsoft SQL Server 2005; it had the HP SIM 5.0 sp #5 software installed and correctly running.

In addition, mxconfigrepo -f commands found no errors with HP SIM 5.0 sp # 5 SQL database.

On this HP Proliant computer, ran the HP SIM 5.1 sp # 1 setup.exe; it did not complete; the error message stated to run the mxinitconfig -a command to complete the installation.

The is where the .......... are being generated - on the HP Proliant computer upon which the HP SIM 5.1 sp #1 software is being installed.
