Problem Upgrading VCA (2.1.1.720) on DL320

Hi HP,

I applied Softpaq 7.30A to a DL320. All has gone okay except for the VCA (2.1.1.720). It fails with:
The software is not supported for installation on this system.

The system must be rebooted before installing this software.

Press 'Close' to exit Setup.
The above is from a manual install done at the console. The VCA install also fails.
The console install attempt was done immediately after a reboot.

I've noticed the problem on 3 out of 4 DL320's. But not all.
In all cases the previous version of the VCA was the same (2.1.0.720) even the DL320 that worked.

I have DL320 'G1' server and I was able to successfully upgrade from 2.1.0.720 to 2.1.1.720 through VCA itself.
Do you have SNMP and SMH installed?

I could successfully upgrade the VCA from 2.1.0.720 to 2.1.1.720 on a DL320 'G2' system also. I doubt its problem with the VCA.
Can you try upgrading through VCA itself and let me know the log message?

Re: Problem Upgrading VCA (2.1.1.720) on DL320

As the original e-mail states, this was originally done as part of the Softpaq install, so yes the SMH has been updated.
SNMP will have nothing to do with it.
I did run the install manually. That was the error message provided.
Oddly enough the Server that worked does not have a problem with its RILOE which the others seem to have.

Rob, Can you just check on the system where it failed to install (after reboot), if the registry was cleaned up correctly. If and only if "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\PendingFileRenameOperations" value is present in registry, you will get the error "The system must be rebooted before installing this software."

It does look as though a reboot was still outstanding.
Not too sure why it couldn't do the entire PSP install in a single go.
Now that they've been done, I'll retest the RILOE II Connectivity.
