Re: Procurve 2626 showing unmanaged

HI

Unmanaged usually means that the HP SIM Server and the device cannot communicate together. Probably snmp is either not enabled or misconfigured on the device.
Check the following link to configure the snmp part on the procurve switch :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/networking/software/Mgmt-Oct2005-59906023-Chap13.pdf
Once done, reidentify the switch by selecting it and going in the option menu and then identify.

Hope it helps

Re: Procurve 2626 showing unmanaged

the snmp are configured correctly. since I got more than 20 switches are currently monitoring with this HPSIM.

The different is this time is another model 2626. Previously, I got 4000M, 8000M, 2524, 5348, 5372, etc......

Re: Procurve 2626 showing unmanaged

HI again,

I understand the point but HP SIM don't lie : Unmanaged : A type indicating that a system that was found with an IP address, without any detected management protocols. If this is not the expected type, ensure the WBEM user name and password or the SNMP community name is correct.

Are you using PCM to configure them ? or was it done manually ? manual processes may sometimes end up with typo errors...

Re: Procurve 2626 showing unmanaged

I am sure both 2626 SNMP settings are setup correctly. I verified this before.

That's why I don't why the SIM doesn't able to communicate with it correctly.

Re: Procurve 2626 showing unmanaged

Fred is right...if a device comes up as unmanaged, HP SIM can discover it via ping but was then unable to establish a management protocol such as SNMP with which to communicate. Is it possible there is some device (firewall, etc) that is not allowing SNMP traffic to pass?
