Prompted for login to the CMS twice from my workstation!!

Hello All. Every morning I login to the CMS from my workstation via https://server:50000

I always have to login twice before I get to the CMS home page. I am not typing the password incorrectly, because I do not receive an error message (I've intentionally typed the pw incorrectly to prove this). Once the login page opens and I've correctly typed my user/pw combination, I'm then prompted with the same login page. After typing in the same inforamation once more, I'm then granted access to the CMS. This dual login is quite annoying. Has anybody else encountered this? Is there a fix for the problem. I'm using HP SIM 4.2 SP2 on Windows 2000 Server. Thanks.

Hi,

The problem is that you have not imported the certificate that you are prompted for in your Trusted Root Certificate Store, once you do that you will not have to login twice to get to your SIM CMS web interface.

I don't believe this is the case. I could be wrong, but I am sure I've accetped the cert already. I'm using both Firefox and IE 6. I have been prompted for the cert in both browsers and I have accepted and installed them in both browsers. When I access the login page for the CMS, I no longer receive a certificate noticification because I have already accepted the cert. Is it possible I need to accept or import the cert in another way? I must be missing something here.

When you imported the cert you probably used the default Certificate Store for your profile, which doesn't have to be the Trusted Root Certificate Store, so you may want to try to import it again, but if you're not prompted anymore I don't know, you have to check your Certificate Stores and if it's in a different store maybe remove it from there...
All I know is that I had the same problem, and once I imported the cert in my Trusted Root Cert Store, the issue dissapeared.

All right....The problem still exists. I have checked the certificate store to ensure another copy of the cert for HP SIM did not exist in another location; and it did not. I deleted the cert from the Trusted Root Certificate Authorities store and reimported, with no effect.

Any other ideas?

Try clearing the cache,cookies and temporary internet files from the browser and then check again.
Also can you try browsing from a different workstation and check whether you have to login twice?

Make sure your HP SIM server is listed on the exceptions of your proxy setup; that could cause it. If you still experience problems, some screenshots might help...

I'm having the same problem on my PC, and until now I haven't found a solution.

Other PCs within the company don't have this problem.
We're using HP SIM 4.2 SP2 on Windows 2003 SP1 Server. My PC is an XP SP2 with IE6 and J2SE RE 5.0 Update 2.

I already disabled the proxy, reimported the certificate (and cleared all caches), but the problem persists.

Now I know that I'm not the only person with this problem, I searched a little further and I found the solution to my problem.

I changed my IE-bookmark from https://xs000752.win.corp.com:50000/login.jsp to https://xs000752.win.corp.com:50000
and the problem disappeared.
