It would always be better to upgrade through PSP 8.6x (for 32 bit Linux), so that all other software components be upgraded, along with SMH.

Thanks.

Thank you. I've downloaded the PSP 8.60 per your recommendation. I will try it and post results.

After the install, I checked systems management page and it is still running 6.1.0.103. I was expecting 6.2.0.

Where do I find the hp psp 8.60 installation log? There's a /tmp/hpsum folder but there isnt any log information there, just survey info.

update 02/18/2011:

I ended up manually installing the hp-smh by following these steps carefully:

ninstall these first ("rpm -ev"):

hpsmh is needed by (installed) hp-smh-templates-8.5.0.13-15.noarch
hpsmh is needed by (installed) hpdiags-8.5.0-11.i586
hpsmh is needed by (installed) hpvca-6.1.0-7.i386

then install these ("rpm -iv"):

rpm -ivh hpsmh-6.2.0-12.i386.rpmrpm -ivh
rpm -ivh hp-smh-templates-8.6.0.14-16.noarch.rpm
rpm -ivh hpvca-6.2.0-8.linux.rpm
