PSP 8.40 on SuSE 10.3

Running PSP 8.40 on SuSE 10.3
Had a drive fail and it did not show up on the HP Insight Manager (v5.1) console. Yet when you drilled down into the server (SMH), the failed drive showed up. Why is the disk failure not percolating up to show as a HW failure in the IM main console?
