Reminder about the forum...
It's great that the uptake of the new HP SIM 4.2 version is creating so much traffic on the forum, particularly including the new Vulnerability and Patch Management Pack. The reason behind this forum is to share common experiences and to get help from users who may already have seen and solved a problem. That usually is because of a configuration issue or maybe just not reading in the documentation what the writer thought they were saying.
When you figure out it's not you, and it's not your configuration, and determine that it probably is a bug, that is no longer a subject for the forum.
When that happens, it's time to get it called in to customer services and get a case created. There are people that are paid by HP to take these problems, validate and escalate them in an orderly fashion to the developers.
That's important because when I ask a friend on the dev team to look at something that's reported (yes, I abuse my privilege when I see something particularly egregious), it takes developers away from the next version of SIM to look at and try to duplicate a problem.
I know that some folks may have had mixed experiences working with HP customer services, particularly outside the U.S., and that is no different than the other technology companies I've worked for, and that is not an excuse. What I do offer is that if you are stymied when trying to report something, or if it looks like something isn't going to get escalated, drop me an email at firstname dot lastname at hp dot com with the name of the person you spoke to and a case number. We can look it up in the global case management system and "unstick" it.
Lastly, let me thank everyone for their participation. Your voices are definitely heard and I can point to numerous changes and new features in HP SIM based on issues that originated in the forum. Everyone on the HP SIM team appreciates the dedication of the users, so thanks again.
