Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Hi,

Our repository manager last update was on feb 5, 2004... but on the hp support site, new drivers and support paq are available since then... so we did take a look at the repository manager logs and found:

Incorrect login account privilege or protocol for request.

We don't get this error all the time, we also get this one:

The automatic repository update process completed successfully. No files were downloaded because the site catalog is unchanged.

What could be the cause of this error message

Do you have a proxy server that requires login?

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

I noticed the other day that my updates were behind too. I setup mine to update nightly. The catalog.xml looks like it is getting written too nightly; however, the "catalog time_stamp" is 2004.1.16.0.0.0. Is that really the most recently updated repository catalog (2 months ago)? There are definitely new drivers that we've installed manually outside of SIM because it is not in SIM (case in point the ILO 1.50 firmware).

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Greetings. I also will check my catalog for updates and successes as well and will post a reply. I only update my repository weekly. Also are you running the latest version of the repository manager?

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

I noticed I was one rev back at 2.0.0.50. I went ahead and upgraded. Still seems like there is something on HP's side not updatin the catalog.

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Hi,

I wanted to to a HP systems insight manager Installation on the 16th of March. I configured automatic update via our proxy-server with authentification. Now I get this message in my log every time the update runs:

The automatic repository update process completed successfully. No new, applicable files were found for download.

It already worked in an old test environment, the server had the same name / IP address that time.

Im using the VCRM shipped with the HP Systems Insight Manager installation pack.

Seems like the automatic update does not work right now when I read your posts.

With best regards

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

It looks like the catalog.xml file is pulled from: ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software2/COL3293/

If you look at that directory you will see the catalog.xml is dated 1-16-2004.

HP - when can we expect the catalog to be updated?

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

I checked my catalog.xml today and it has a date of 3-26. I see updated drivers in there as well. David, did you press someone to get the catalog updated or is that outside of your control?

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Hi,

As I wrote earlier I had no entries in my repository. In another thread I found out that only necessary files are downloaded. I thought everything is downloaded by the VCRM.
As the import of my SSL-certificate didn't work well the trust between VCRM and HPSIM didn't work correctly.
Because of this I had no files in my repository.

This is just for information if someone of you gets the same problem.

Best regards

Andy

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

I have a Proliant 1600 Server acting as a as a Central Management Server (with VCRM)it is adding components successfully as updates appear on the HP FTP site. However, for security reasons I have been testing the use of Version Control Repository Manager on an XP Workstation and also another Proliant 1600. The CMS recognises all VCRMs on the network and OpenSSH has been installed and privilageged account access has been confirmed. When Proliant 1600 and XP workstation running VCRM access the HP FTP site I get the following message:-

"The automatic repository update process completed successfully. No new, applicable files were found for download."

I have tried this with the VCRMs empty and with a locally populated PSP verion 6.40 hoping that this would kick start the process but nothing has happened so far.

You are not alone.

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Hi Robert,

when you open the web interface of your HPsim and open the menue entry Version Control Repository in the Options menue you can see a list with your VCRM servers. Are all of them listed there?
There is a column named "Trusted". Das a "yes" appear in each line?

There is also another thread (http://forums1.itrc.hp.com/service/forums/questionanswer.do?threadId=533336) dealing with this. There you can find some screenshots how to configure the trust.

Best regards

Re: Repository Manager - no more updates ?

Thank you for your response.

The VCRM displays all available repository and indicates that each of them as Trusted - YES.

I have downloaded several manuals for Systems insight manager and the Version Controll Repository manager and the explanation for configuring the trusts is fairly straight forward.

I have configured each of the three repositories and trusts in the same manner but only one works.

Any further advice would be appreciated, thank you.
