Set Disk Thresholds when using ProLiant WBEM (WMI) Providers

As many of you may already know or have discovered, the 'Set Disk Thresholds' task in HP SIM only works with the ProLiant SNMP agents. The development team who works on the WBEM (WMI) Providers is looking for guidance as to the popularity of this feature so they can properly prioritize the work to support it.

If you currently use or want to use the 'Set Disk Thresholds' feature in HP SIM (this allows you to remotely set the thresholds on the primary partition of a server for 1-->n servers without having to visit each and every server's System Management Homepage), then this is your chance to chime in.

Reply to this message with a 'Yes' or a 'Me, too' or what-have-you, and this will provide a voting mechanism for the feature we can share with the dev team. Thanks.

(5 points will be awarded for all replies...sorry it's not more, but I don't want to flag the question as 'solved' which might prevent some people from opening the message)

Yes, that is a really showstopper for implementing WBEM providers.

Hi,
I would like to see the same features for WBEM, as there are for SNMP!

Thanks!

Yes, I currently use this feature and would like to have it configured for WBEM. Thanks.

If WBEM is to supersede SNMP then yes. In terms of priority I feel there are other issues with WBEM that could usefully be addressed first.

Yes, we're not using it de facto on every managed system but the feature is a "nice to have" for more critical servers.

Hi this would be something we are interested in as well. It would also be good to have the option to set the Threshold per disk rather than server wide.

Re: Set Disk Thresholds when using ProLiant WBEM (WMI) Providers

@Russell Tebay: You can do that today by visiting the SMH. The 'Set Disk Thresholds' in HP SIM is a global setting because systems with multiple drives are usually somewhat unique. The idea is to be able to set a global default for all (or whatever subset) via HP SIM that would be generally applicable, such as warning at 80% and critical at 90%, and then go tune individual systems as necessary.

Yes.

I've had to throw up a vm box to run a freeware monitoring app to get this functionality.

Ahh... I'd forgotten about this request.
Yes I want it now. Using wbem a lot more, especially for ESXi.
Wbem subscriptions seem to be working better.

Thanks for your efforts in the HP SIM environment

Did you already think about a test indication
in the ESXi environment? Something sould replace the SNMP test trap from the SMH.

Sound good news to me. We have close on 3000 devices to monitor, so don't fancy having to go around all that lot or write a script

Re: Set Disk Thresholds when using ProLiant WBEM (WMI) Providers

Global and individual disk thresholds can now be configured when using the ProLiant WBEM (WMI) Providers by choosing Tasks --> Server Configuration (see attached).

Ask and ye shall receive!
