Set Disk Thresholds with SIM 4.2, can't change them in 5.0
For all of my Novell servers, I get the error when attempting to select them:
"No, is not WINNT or LINUX or IPX or OPENVMS : wrong Operating System Name."
Why would 5.0 be unable to perform a task that 4.2 did just fine?
Thanks,
Eric

Almost sounds like the SNMP details are no longer correct.

Re: Set Disk Thresholds with SIM 4.2, can't change them in 5.0
According to my own experiences the support for NetWare disk thresholds dissappered in HPSIM releases after version 4.1.
I think it's a really bad approach from HP to make the already weak NetWare support even weaker for every new version of HPSIM.
There are still a lot of running NetWare servers out there, and not everybody are ready or willing to switch to Novell OES for Linux tomorrow, (wich seems to be the standard HP suggestion when someone complains about the lack of NetWare support in HPSIM).

Re: Set Disk Thresholds with SIM 4.2, can't change them in 5.0
Actually, the thresholds are still active, and they are creating events and sending alerts with the new 5.0. The problem is that I am unable to change any threshold settings.
If I force SIM 5.0 to believe that a Novell server is a Windows server, will it then allow me to change threshold numbers?
Why would HP remove perfectly good functionality with each newer release? It would be a shame to have to go back to 4.1 or 4.2. Is it even possible to revert back once I've upgraded?
Thanks,
Eric

I really don't know, (but I would never let one of my dear NW servers pretend to be a Windows server ;-)
I don't know how many NetWare servers you have, but you can always set thresholds on the Management Agents Homepage for a specific server.
Still works with Agents v7.40. (Let's see for how long...)
