Sim 4.1 hardware status polling job not running.

The hardware status polling job is set to run every 5 minutes (as per default) however the job is ignoring the schedule and not running at all. I've rebooted the server and it ran when the central management server was started. I've tried a run now and this also doesn't seem to work. Please can anyone assist?

I've upgraded to 4.2 sp1 to try and rectify the problem without any joy. Has anyone seen this before - the weird thing is if you run the hardware staus polling task from the menu it will run OK - it just seems to be the scheduling of the service that isn't working. To try and investigate I've installed the product on another server and want to point to the original database. I've seen a few postings and have amended the system dsn and changed the databse.props file to point to the remote machine and databse in question however when I try to launch the web page it replies with page cannot be displayed. If I change it back it's fine - is there something I'm missing?
