SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

I have just made a fresh install of HP SIM 5.0 with some clients with PSP 7.40.

SIM discovers the agents, the ILOs and the cluster with no problem, but if I try to see the cluster monitor of one of the clusters, I get a page with the grey header ("Cluster Monitor" and "clustername (cluster)") and all blank below the header... :-(

Where is my cluster monitor?? Is there anything else to configure before I can use it??

Thank you,
Bernardo

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Which clusters are you trying to monitor? In 5.0 cluster monitor is supported only for MSCS clusters.

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Sorry for the delay... :-(

All the clusters I'm monitoring are MSCS (around 20) and with all of them is the same...

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Same problem here, getting a white page on the cluster monitor (MSCS). Agents on the cluster nodes are of various levels (no 7.40 yet).

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Don't know if you did this, but you may have to activate the "Clustering Information" agent on all the cluster nodes.

Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> HP Management Agents -> Services tab

Add "Clustering Information" to the "Active Agents" list, click OK, and restart the agents.

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Clustering agent is active, and cluster monitor worked well in 4.2.

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

We have the same problem. Our HP-Technican can reconstruct the problem in his lab, but can't find the difference.
The cluster are show in the systemlist, but the cluster status is unknown. the error messages received from the sim, if the cluster generate a error.

We have also open a case with HP in April 05.
However we have to today no solution.

See the following trade:
HPSIM 5.0 Cluster monitor shows blank frame
they have the same problem.

Same case here... Clustering agent is active in every node member of a cluster...

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

I did some "printf" debugging, and it seems the page "Systems Insight Manager\hpwebadmin\webapps\ROOT\mxportal\clustermonitor\CmMSCS.jsp" gets stuck when proceeding line 146 :
mscsTableModel.loadTable(loginBean,resObj,szSelected);

When commenting this line, the rest of the code is processed, and something loads (of course, commenting the line breaks the actual functionality of the page).

I don't know anything about JSP, though, so I can't fix the actual code.

FYI, this bug is not corrected in the 5.0 SP2 version that was released earlier this week...

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

We had a similiar problem but ours was not even showing up in SIM 5. So here are some things to check.

Ours didn't have this registry key at all which is pretty important: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE,"SOFTWARE\Compaq\CompaqCommonClusterAgent\CurrentVersion",
Value: Pathname,%REG_EXPAND_SZ%,"%SystemRoot%\System32\svrclu.dll

We found out that not only was the registry entry not there but that the .dll was not there either. This is after going to the agents and adding the cluster agent as 'active'. We ran the 7.3 Insight Agents install again and now the .dll and registry entries are there. This is probably because the first go around when installing the agents during our build process the cluster is not installed yet.(doh!) Restarted SNMP service after that.

We lastly went back in to SIM and ran identify on the two cluster servers and the resource node IP and it was there and working fine. Hope this is of some help.

Re: SIM 5.0 and Cluster Monitor

Our MS clusters all show a blank frame in cluster monitor.

The cluster nodes all have the registry key, the dll is in the correct location and cluster agent is active.

Tried to run identify on clusters and nodes but no progress.

Anyone?

Same problem, with the latest HP SIM released. Have you solved your problems ?
