Re: SIM 5 - excluding Major alarms
The only other way I could think of would be to go to the HP Management Agents GUI, via the Command Console, and remove the required agent.
I've not tried that, and I don't know which agent would be responsible. But I use that method to disable ILO Major alarms by removing the Remote Lights Out Agent.

Re: SIM 5 - excluding Major alarms
What I ended up doing was disabling the built in alarm which alerts on all Critical and Major events. I then created specific event handling jobs to alert on certain conditions, such as "System Unreachable", "Power Suppy Redundancy Degraded", etc.
This stopped the flood of notifications.

Re: SIM 5 - excluding Major alarms
Then, to create a new event, such as System Unreachable, goto New and "Create an event handling task" "with evetn and system attributes that I will specify".
Name the task, such as Node Down or whatever.
In Select Events, choose "where Event Type is: Systems Insight Manager Events."
Choose "System is Unreachable".
Then choose the systems to apply this to and choose the type of action, such as email notification or page.
Take some time to look through the Event Categories...there hundreds of possible events to be notified on.
Let me know if this helps.
Steve
