SIM and SMS
I would appreciate it if you can also describe how you accomplished this either through a batch file etc.

Re: SIM and SMS
You need to get the access code for your local cellular provider. I don't know where you are, but this page might help:
http://www.intellisoftware.co.uk/products/transports/tap-protocol-numbers.aspx
SIM *only* supports the TAP protocol - the US standard, but many European providers support this. Be sure they do, though because it will error if it tries to negotiate the wrong protocol.
For each user you want to receive alerts, you must set up their account with details of the provider's access number (telephone number) and the user's GSM number (put this in the field called 'pin number'). The baud rate and data format must match your modem and the provider's specification, but in Europe, you're probably safe with 57600 baud and 8 data, no parity, 1 stop.

Re: SIM and SMS
My European provider supports UCP but unofficially they say from tap version 1.8 it should work as well.

Re: SIM and SMS
I have found the number of a different provider and they are listed to support the TAP protocol. So far nothing is coming through. I tested the line and I can dial out using the AT commands. I would like to examine the log file but I don't see any log file that relates to this in the logs folder.

Re: SIM and SMS
The fact that you can connect doesn't mean much unless the protocol is correct.
Even if you use 3rd party apps, if your provider is not supporting TAP, you will get a similar result (normally "TAP login rejected" or similar).
My last input would be to check the line speed of the provider's modem - some run at 2400 or 9600 baud only, so 56k/v.90 may be too much for them.
Good luck!

Re: SIM and SMS
None of the SMSC in holland support the TAP protocol they only support the UCP protocol.
Does anybodyknow if HP is going to support SMS instead of only paging?
I have not found any good 3rd party application either that will support SIM to send SMS. Does anyone know any application which does? Or an SMS gateway which supports TAP via Dial inn access?
