What is needed for proper discovery and identification of an NT4 server under SIM 4.1? Our last, lonely NT server cannot be identified, and SIM returns "The device does not have any supported instrumentation." PSP 6.31A is running on the server. All the SNMP parameters are correct.
Thanks,
- Steve Kadish

SolutionYou might try to snmpwalk the managed server from the HP SIM system and look for the enterprises.232 part of the tree.

Re: SIM reports "The device does not have any supported instrumentation." doing discovery on NT4 box
Just to be clear, the system *was* marked as "UNMANAGED." The error I listed was the stderr when I manually ran device discovery.
You lost me a bit with the snmpwalk... first of all, is that a utility? (I have MIB browsers but I've never heard of one named snmpwalk.) Second of all, should .232 be the enterprise OID for HP or Compaq or Proliants or something?
Thanks,
- Steve

snmpwalk localhost public enterprises.232
would give you everything in the ProLiant MIB on a local system.
