For SIM and HP agents to work properly, should I set the snmp security for the community to read_create, read_write or create 2 communities, 1 for each?
I researched the read_create value, it is a SNMPv2 permission but I dont know if it is backward compatible with devices that do SNMPv1 querries...
Thanks,

Solution
Hi,
READ CREATE is necessary if you will be using SIM or the System Home Page to set thresholds (i.e., disk space thresholds) on the target servers. READ WRITE is sufficient for everything else.
So, if you want to set thresholds, create one READ ONLY string and one READ CREATE string and you will be all set.
Good luck,
- Steve
