You can customize your views so that the SW column isn't even shown on your "All Switches" or "All Virtual Machines" view if you want.

I'd do that except for the fact that I'm trying to get our Routers, Servers, and UPSes (that's the tough part, can't figure out the MIB thing and we currently have SNMP locked down on the APC's) into SIM. That way we can search for a site and have it show what is down.
