Software Status Polling does not work after upgrade to SIM5.2

Hello,

After having upgraded from SIM5.1 to SIM 5.2, the Status Software Polling task does not work anymore.
Even if I do it manualy via "Options --> Status Polling --> Software Status Polling". The task ended successfully, but the Icon stay yellow. When I click on the yellow Icon, it opens the VCAgent page on the managed system and everything is uptodate and green.

Is there a way to see the query sent to the VCAgent on the managed system ?

I had the same problem, I installed on two different server HPSIM 5.2, everything is working except the software polling task.
This very frustrating IF you are goning to the customer side.

I had the same problem, I installed on two different server HPSIM 5.2, everything is working except the software polling task.
This very frustrating IF you are going to the customer side.

I am having the same problem. After running a software status polling, the software status does not get updated, ever!

HP please fix this!

I had one server giving the same error (out of 150+) this server was also showed that there was no trust with the CMS. The snmp and cert where ok but I re-applied the snmp setting and readded the cert. After a rescan trust and Software Status OK.

We do not use cert (Trust all) and I double checked the SNMP settings. The trust with the CRM is OK.

i'm also having this problem.
SW column doesn't change regardless of software status - one server as a critical update displayed in the ES column but has a green tick in the SW, whilst another has a major notification in the SW but is actually fully updated!
v.annoying!

anyone got a solution yet?

btw - that link doesn't seem to work for me. just says system unavailable.

The only solution so far is to create manually a "data collection" task for the servers. Surprisingly this works without any issues, but still "software polling" seems to be buggy right now. HP needs to provide a hotfix for this issue.

Same problem here.

We have 3 HP SIM servers, about 2000 nodes in them. 1 SIM server updated to 5.2.
That one is having problems with managed nodes accessing the VCR. At first no problems. But after one day I tried to add 3 new nodes. That worked perfectly but no green sign in column SW.
Rebooted the server. After that accessing VC-agent gave message:

Internal Error: An error occurred while formatting the page for display.

Seems to be some security issue.
Had that before when implementing PSP7.40.
PSP7.41 corrected that. The issue that time was that de Management HomePage didn't provide the trust voor VC-agent anymore.
Problem/symptoms seem the same?

Any solution yet?

FIXED!

I left for the weekend and now the trust seem to have reastiblished...
Perhaps the update to 5.2 did cause the VCRM to start a maintanance in the background that did take quite some time?

Only thing I had to do is to manually start a software polling task and all green sign in colomn SW were back giving directly access to the VC agents.

I have mixed results from several managed servers. Four have wrong status from what I see locally at the managed server VC Agent; one server is green, but SIM says the agent not installed; one more server SIM says it's a trust issue. "Software Polling not updating" explains them all. This is SIM 5.2. is there any further update since the last post yesterday?

Like I mentioned this before, there seems to be a bug in the "Software Polling" function and the only solution so far is to engage "Data Collection" task instead.

In regards to some of the previous posts, this is nothing to do with Trust, Security or SIM upgrades. The same behaviour can be seen with brand new installations as well. The fact that you can see the status when you add new managed nodes to the SIM database is driven by the "Limited Data Collection" task that is engaged during initial discovery / identification. So most probably those who already have servers being monitored with SIM 5.2, sooner or later will get either the "blue question mark" status or alternatively the "green", "yellow" and other statuses just won't update.

HP hasn't come up with any official solution as yet so if you are using HP SIM 5.2 in production, make sure you have defined a daily "Data Collection" task. Although it will take more time for the boxes to be status polled that way, at least this workaround is doing the job properly.

I have solved this problem with the installation of the Latest SMH2 and VCA on the HPSIM 5.2 server.
They are a part of PSP 8.0. So I think the solution for this problem is?
HPSIM 5.2 + PSP 8.0!!

There is a issue in 5.2 where sw polling task does not update sw status.
SIM 5.2 Hotfix update should include the fix.

has an update been released? i haven't seen it.
i've had no joy with SW Status updates with PSP 8.0 either. only Data Collection seems to work.

PSP 8.0 doesn't help out the situation. I can confirm that still only the "Data Collection" task is able to update the SW status in HP SIM 5.2.

HotFix is required...

Cool.

I see the new 5.2 install is out there too, but could not find a README for a list of changes between 5.2 #1 and 5.2 #2. Does anyone know if there is any benefit to installing the new 5.2 on top of an existing 5.2?

Looks like installing the patch using RDP (terminal services) does not work. I had to login to the console of the server to install it.

The hotfix resolved the SW polling issues as expected and I had no problems applying it through ordinary RDP session, however console session is always advisable when dealing with HP SIM (especially RSP components for which it is mandatory).
