Still cannot setup the right Authorization in SIM 5.2.2 Come on HP!
I have hundreds of nodes and ~10 users that I have setup groupings of servers for them to view and manage. I have to authorize Full Rights to the CMS server for them to have the ability to Clear and Delete Events from their assigned nodes!!! This is BOGUS!

It is still possible in SIM 5.2.2 to create an authorization you just need to create a new toolbox with the delete and create events tools in it and then authorize the user for this toolbox.

Re: Still cannot setup the right Authorization in SIM 5.2.2 Come on HP!
"Note: For users with operator rights and user rights to clear, delete, assign events, and add comments to events, you must select Configuration Tool from the Show tools in category dropdown list. Then, select Clear Events, Delete Events, Assign Events, and Comment Events as necessary, and then click to add them to the Toolbox contents."
This guy is now reading the manual to me.

Try it...I have read the manual as well; it doesn't work unless the user has Full Rights to the CMS Server.

Re: Still cannot setup the right Authorization in SIM 5.2.2 Come on HP!
I'm using:
Version: Systems Insight Manager 5.2 with SP2 - Windows
Build version: C.05.02.02.00
Build date: 2008-07-04 10:23
Patches:
HOTFIX52_002.jar Tue, 7/15/2008, 5:07 PM GMT
HOTFIX52_003.jar Wed, 7/16/2008, 2:05 PM GMT
I did configured such access for a user as follow:
1- clear/delete/assign events
2- view system page (no shm allowed).
In order to do so I have created a custom toolbox and assigned the following rights:
1- clear/delete/assign events:
Category / Configuration tool
. Action Events
. Assign Events
. Clear Events
. Comment Events
. Delete Events
2- view system page (no shm allowed):
Category / View
. System Page
The I have created a new authorization and assign the user to the custom toolbox and to CMS and All Managed Systems.
All is working fine.

Re: Still cannot setup the right Authorization in SIM 5.2.2 Come on HP!
My point is to try to assgn those Toolboxes to a group of servers that doesn't include the CMS server. It allows you to perfom the authoization but the User cannot perform the Clear or Delete Events.
That is my delima...I don't want users to be able see or manage anything on the CMS.
Give that a try and you'll see what I mean...

Re: Still cannot setup the right Authorization in SIM 5.2.2 Come on HP!
My users have the right to clear/delete events for the devices they manage (using custom collections).
Using my account with full rights, it works.
Using the limited right accounts, it doesn't work.
But if I look in the log, it says "Success"
"CEST,CONFIG,SUCCESS,START,TASK,Clear Events -
CEST,CONFIG,SUCCESS,RUN,TASK,Clear Events,SUMMARY"
I'm using a fresh new installation of HP SIM 5.3 and had the same problem in HP SIM 5.2...
