System Management Home Page

When I click certain links in Systems Insight Manager, I get taken to the System Management Home Page. On the top it says login account: Anonymous. The username box is a drop down list with Administrator, Operator, and User listed and prompt for a password. The problem is, I don't know the password for any of those users and I can not type in the user name I use to log into Insight manager. Is there a way to change this with out knowing the password?

Thank you for any help.

Re: System Management Home Page

The best thing to do is to find a machine you can get into and then on the C drive under \compaq\wbem copy the CPQHMMD.ACL file. Copy the file to a system you can't log into replacing the existing one, restart the server (or just the managment services). Then you should be able to login with the password that you do know from the previous system.

Good luck

Re: System Management Home Page

It didn't work. I thought I knew the password on another machine, but I guess not. Is there a way to change the password? When was the password created?

Re: System Management Home Page

During the install is when it is usually set.

Depending on the version of the agents installed the passwords may be the system default passwords which are the username.

Re: System Management Home Page

hello

One option is to pre-configure component in VCRM and re-install managament agents. When configure component you must select password for each user Administrator/Operator/User

Re: System Management Home Page

I'm sorry I'm new at this. What is VCRM and how do I pre-configure a component? Which component?

Thanks.

Re: System Management Home Page

OK. I know what VCRM is, but I don't understand what you mean by "pre-configure".

What do I need to do?
Thanks.

Re: System Management Home Page

Login into VCRM, click on the Catalog tab and click "Configure a component", then select the HP Insight Management Agents and then you can set the password and distribute the agents to the servers.

I'm sorry, but being a newbie, I need more specifics. How do I log into VCRM if I can't get past the system management homepage?

Re: System Management Home Page

ok

find the folder with name Repository on your disk, in that folder is 2 subfolder one for windows 2000 and one for windows2003. Launch setup.exe in thats folder (dependent on which windows is on the target server, server where you have a problem). The ProLiant Remote Deployment Utility is displayed. Expand the All Configurable Components section and right-click on Foundation Agents for Windows, then clik Configure. Find Insight Management Agents settings, enter the password for Administrator, Operator, User. Click Save to finish configuring the components.

The Remote Deployment Utility page is displayed. In Target Machine enter the server name on wich you want install ProLiant SupportPack.

If you want install only Foundation Agents, delet other component in the list (select it and delete).

Good luck

Re: System Management Home Page

Thanks for the clear instructions. Only one problem, my repository directory is empty. Does this indicate that SIM is not installed correctly?

Re: System Management Home Page

Use SmartStart, let'em autorun and find: populate version repository, then you have those folders.
