System Type "Unknown" in SIM

Fresh install of SIM 5.2 sp2. Having multiple issues when adding servers. After running the discovery process, servers rarely if ever show up properly in SIM. I have been going through the configure and repair agents process then deleting and re-adding the server to get it to show up. This works about 80% of the time. However there are many servers that never change their status from System Type "Unknown". How can I get them to show up properly?

"Unknown" means that HP SIM was able to communicate with the device using a management protocol (SNMP, WBEM/WMI) but was unable to classify it by an existing rule based on the information it was able to collect.

What server + OS + agents are involved?

Hardware is a mix of dl380, 360, 580, 585, c & p class blades. Os is w2k, w2k3, w2k8. We run sum against all of our servers out of the chute and install all agents.

I am going to make the assumption that all the servers that you are discovering have the Proliant Support Pack installed on them.

One thing that may be worth doing is restarting the System Management Homepage and Foundation Agents services. I've seen in a few cases where these services get "stuck" and the servers will then correctly identify when you restart the services.

Unknown is usually a credential/communication problem.

Couple of things to check are:
Correct WBEM credential or SNMP community string in HP SIM CMS?

If your credentials are correct, check the WMI mapper proxy configuration.

You might want to also check the Identification task results for some clues to why it is not identifying it correctly.
