Trouble creating a collection with negative criteria
1) Systems with names that start with S1 or S2
"system name starts with S1"
or
"system name starts with S2"
2) Systems with names that do not start with S1 or S2.
"system name does not start with S1"
and
"system name does not start with S2"
The 1st collection works fine. It's the negative collection #2 that I'm having trouble with. When editing the collection I can click View and see all the systems properly. However after I save the collection and choose it from the Systems and Events area it has 0 systems. I can go back to Edit and View and see all the systems just fine. I've tried multiple times with different collection criteria.
Has anyone else been able to create collections using multiple negative criteria?
TIA,
Scott

Re: Trouble creating a collection with negative criteria
we've seen something similar: Trying to add filters into System Lists which seems to brake after a certain number. I have seen the same you are describing and we have an open HP case which they are working on.
Case# 3211881011
Seems the System List 'filters' arent working 100%.. Still expecting a fix.

Any results on the open case yet? I'm seeing this too.

Re: Trouble creating a collection with negative criteria
Seems to be working though.
Good luck,
Scott

Re: Trouble creating a collection with negative criteria
For example I created a new collection by going to Systems and Events\Customize. Choose New and define By Attribute - add all your collection criteria...
system name does not start with xxx
system name does not start with yyy
system name does not start with zzz
management protocol is DMI
management protocol is SNMP
management protocol is WBEM
Save the collection and then click on it under Systems and Events. I've restarted the SIM service and logged on again and the collection was still viewable. However, if I edit the collection again and resave it no longer works.
As I noted in the post above I am running Hotfix50_001 on my system. It may be that SIM exhibited this behavior before the hotfix and I just never noticed because I was always editing the collections...
Good luck,
Scott
PS: I would have just edited my earlier post but can't figure out how - is there a way to edit posts?

Re: Trouble creating a collection with negative criteria
Thanks for the updates. At least that explains the "Am I losing my mind, I know it was working before" :-)
Deleted and recreated the exact same collection and it's working now. Just have to make a mental note not to edit it.
BTW I'm not running the hotfix on this system, since it hasn't had the trust issue, so it looks like that has no affect.
