Trust and password replication on Diff version of Management Agent

Hi,

We have just installed (SIM) Systems Insight Manager 5.0. I has discovered all the devices presented on network.

I need few points to be clarified:

1)How do i know which clients are trusted and what kind of trust i have in my SIM with clients.

2)How to establish trust between Client Server and SIM Server.

3)Under Replication option can i replicate password only (I think it is possible) that also to all servers(800) with different versions of mangement agent (Very specifically or any known issues).

4)Can i use some script to establish the trust or any task instead or doing it manually. What is the detail process.

Any more Tips on same Welcomed.

Trusts are difficult to replicate as there's no trust to start with.

There are a number of trust mechanisms. The most common and easiest is Trust By Certificate. Each Agent is configured with this and has the Certificate of the HPSIM loaded.

Chances are if you have not configured a trust then none will exist.

The Client Agent can be configured in advanced with the Trust details and the actual certificate. So when the Agent is installed on the target client the Certificate and Trust details are installed.

If you have downloaded the Proliant Support Pack, run Setup.exe. From that screen you can configure the HP Agents. You can then deploy the entire PSP as appropriate to whatever Server you target.

Not too sure what you mean by Q3, the later versions of the Agents use Domain or similar authentication. They no longer use the password mechanism the older (pre 7.20) agents used.

I am talking about password for mangement agent replication for administrator account of the server.

Where as any document on how to setup Trust between the SIM and agents around 800 Servers. I am looking for easy way.

in an AD environment you should be able to use a domain\username format rather than the local admin account of the Server providing such an account has full access.

AD Account will not be working on older mangement version.

Point is i dont want to deploy new mangement agent.

I want all to trust new SIM
How to do it ?

And make Sure all mangement agent have standerd password.

If you want to set the trust for all your servers there is a feature in HPSIM called Configure or Repair Agent settings. It does not require that you have a trust already setup - it will in fact setup a cert trust for you.
