Uninstall and Reinstall?

I had a new server that someone had installed 6.0 on, I wanted to upgrade it to 6.1 before we begin using it. The upgrade process was failing so I attempted to uninstall and then reinstall. Now that is failing also at the part where it is installing the Insight Manager component. When going through the logs the only thing I find is error 4 - the install failed. Any thoughts or information on maybe making sure everything is clean when I uninstall and try again?
