We currently have 300+ servers in our environment managed via SIM 4.1. Of these 300, roughly 90 are running an agent > 7.1. Most are 5.0 to 6.3.
My concern is upgrading to 7.1 or 7.2 will require a reboot to take effect. Is this true?
I want our entire environment baselined at 7.1 before we upgrade CMS 4.1 to 4.2.
Thanks!

Solution
Yes, it will require reboots.
And I would recommend updating the entire Softpaq and not just the Agents, otherwise you're likely to have additional issues.
I'd also recommend going to 7.10 if you're planning a major roll out, I had several issues going to 7.20 and I believe that you'd be best bring the infrastructure up to a stable level before progressing.

Re: Upgrade IM Agents to 7.2
7.20 is a baseline that I would not recomend at this time, many issues need to be resolved first, slowness of the server logoff / shutdown, diagnostic issues etc. You will need several reboots for the agents and drives. On your older servers, upgrade the firmware to the latest revision is recomended.
