Upgrading to HPSIM4.2 sp2
I am in the process of attempting to upgrade from HP ISM 7 sp2.3 to HPSIM4.2 SP2. The problem that i am having is that the Migration tools only export the HPISM 7 Settings on the Insight manager server. What i need to do is export the data in the SQL DB from the old ISM 7 to the new SIM 4.2 DB. Is this possible and how is it done. I have a good amount of history in this DB that i can not afford to loose. I call HP Tech support and they told me squat.

Re: Upgrading to HPSIM4.2 sp2
Hi Christopher,
Unless it has changed there is no importing of historical data. Too many changes to the database structure I understand to make that practical.

Re: Upgrading to HPSIM4.2 sp2
Greetings. The above answer was correct the database is in essence not copied over, but the Databases from Insight Manager 7x are still there as it creates new Databases etc. IF you require this information or in order to retrieve it from time to time you can perform SQL queries and generate your reports that way.
It would be a pain but doable if you were really good at SQL programming to copy this information into the new DB's....
Good luck

Re: Upgrading to HPSIM4.2 sp2
HP SIM 5 is coming out next month and is dramatically different in how it operates.
I am told it no longer uses Java.
You may want to wait and see if you can get a beta version of 5 and see if you like it before you spend alot of time on this.
