URL to go directly to specific server ???
I know howto logon to SIM with this URL:
http://server:280/
HP Web JetAdmin has same; but, also allows following URL to go directly to desired printer:
https://server:8443/device/_printer_
How can I do this with SIM?
When we know a server has problem; we want to be able to go directly to the SIM view of that server from inside Netview (or, HPOV).
No, we do NOT want to go directly to the Managed Server webpage:
http://mgd_svr:2381/
What do you think?
Best Regards,
helices

Re: URL to go directly to specific server ???
What is it that you want that you don't think is reflected in the Systems Management Homepage? HP SIM data collection is run periodically, so linking to the device page in HP SIM will most likely be to out of date information.

David =>
Thank you, for your participation. I do NOT know how to reply only to your response in this forum.
"What is it that you want that you don't think is reflected in the Systems Management Homepage?"
Pardon my ignorance regarding nomenclature.
If I understand this, a specific username/password is required there. We want to have generic access to SIM to determine problem details. Actually logging into the server, and fixing things is a totally separate task.
It looks like we need to use devicepage.jsp; which appears to require nodeID; and will NOT respond to nodeName. GenSystemPage.jsp does NOT get us to enough system information/context.
"HP SIM data collection is run periodically, so linking to the device page in HP SIM will most likely be to out of date information."
What am I missing? I do not believe that this is an issue -- is it? The process, as we plan it, is SIM sends a Trap to NV, which in turn sends an event to TEC; which pages a technician; who logs into NV, considers network context; and selects SIM from object menu. Once the browser opens, and server problem and context is reviewed; then, a recovery plan is implemented.
What do you think?
Best Regards,
helices

Re: URL to go directly to specific server ???
If your issue is the need to log in to the SMH, likewise you would have to log in to HP SIM in order to view the information. The Device Properties page in HP SIM provides information about the device, but the source of that information is the SMH itself.
Your best bet is to link off to the SMH.
