VCRM cannot update automatically

Hi,

I have installed VCRM 2.0 (and later 2.1 to see if this version could solve my problem, but it didn't). When I would like to change the automatic update settings, VCRM cannot save them when
- I enable the automatic update feature
- I don't fill in proxy settings
The error I get, is:
"Error: unable to connect.
Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Error downloading remote file ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software2/COL3293/catalog.xml to local file C:\WINDOWS\TEMP\wh2E.tmp."

Okay okay, you would think I have to fill in proxy settings, right? Well, if I do so, everything works fine. Problem solved? Not exactly... You see, I would like to try it without proxy settings and that should be possible. My machine can go outside our network on port 80 and 21 directly (so without proxy server). Then why do I get this error...?

I amsure I don't need proxy settings, because when I go to the FTP site through Internet Explorer, I can read catalog.xml in the browser window!

Another weird thing about the error is that is first says it can't connect, but then it says the file already exists (but it doesn't exists!)...

I hope someone can help me with this!

Thanks!
Pedro

Make sure that you have SNMP sets enabled in the HP Management Agents control panel applet and that you have defined a read/write community string in the SNMP service.

Re: VCRM cannot update automatically

Hi,

All the SNMP settings are correct.

I have done some tests: I've copied the catalog.xml file to a few websites (intranet same domain, intranet other domain, etc.) and have changed the registry named value which refers to the URL where VCRM should get catalog.xml. Everything works fine, even without proxy settings!

Then I have copied the XML file to a few FTP sites on the same machines and I changed the URL again to these FTP sites. Boem! I get an error again. It seems I get an error when the URL is an FTP address AND I don't use proxy settings... Weird is that another VCRM machine doesn't have this problem...
