VMWare ESX Insight Agent - forward to MOM 2005?

Hi, we use ESX 2.5 from VMWare and have installed the HP Insight Agents.

This will report on the Proliant DL560 G1 hardware which is running ESX, but is designed to forward info/SNMP traps to a Insight Manager console.

I would like to redirect this info/traps to Microsoft MOM 2005 (Microsoft Operations Manager).

Has anyone done this? Any ideas?

It should just send the SNMP Traps to wherever you point it.
Just configure SNMP on the VMWare ESX Box to send the SNMP Traps to the MOM Server.

Problem is VMware traps are VM-specific not proliant hardware specific. I need a way to forward the insight agent+VM info to MOM.

You could use Event Forwarding in Systems Insight Manager to do that.

In Systems Insight Manager go to "Options", "Events", "Automatic Event Handling". Run through the wizard to build a filter for the event types you want to forward and when you get to the action part of the wizard you can set it up to Forward and SNMP trap.

Thanks for the tips.

In the end I ditched Insight Manager as it's really slow on my machines.

I just forward all traps to MOM and we are writing our own rules in MOM to extract the trap info.

A bit messy but seems to work...
