VRCM won't install under HP SIM 5.0

I updated my HP SIM server to version 5.0 today. Although I experienced a few hurdles, the installation completed (for the most part).

However, when the installation starts for the Virtual Control Repository Mgr, it aborts immediately. I get the msg that the version is not supported in the system.

Please, note that this is the same server that had HP SIM 4.2, SP2 installed, and it had VRCM.

As for my HP SIM server's setup, it is a DL380 G4, w/ Windows 2003 SP1.

What version of the VCRM?
Mine is listed as 2.1.2.730.

I had exactly the same problem. I navigated to the VCRM exe on the management cd. z:\Vcrep\cp005599.exe (version 2.1.3.740) and ran it from there and it updated ok.

The only problem I have noticed is that if I reboot the SIM server although the VCRM service starts ok, I have to go back in and restart the service again after all the other services have started in order to get it to work.

I currently have it running on a DL360 which is below recommended spec but it seems to be ok (though the CPU takes a hammering when a discovery runs).

I already tried that option as well. Still, the VRCM won't install. Somehow, it is insists that my HP SIM server is not compatible.

Can you let me know your current VCRM and SMH version in the system where you see the failure?

Actually VRCM is not currently installed. When I first ran into these installation problems, I immediately removed the earlier version (which was part of HP SIM 4.2, SP2). Still, that didn't help.

As for the SMH, I wonder... did you mean OpenSSH??? If so, the version I am running is whatever came w/ HP SIM 5.0.

SMH is the systems management homepage. During the SIM 5.0 installation it should have upgraded SMH to version 2.1.2.127.

Thanks for bringing that up... I just realized that the SMH didn't install right. I uninstalled it, then, installed it again.

Once I did this, the VRCM installed w/o problems. Who would've thought???
