What is gained by installing MS SQL server?

I am planning installation of SIM on the new server for the purpose of monitoring and reporting on ~60 HP servers. I see that installing MSSQL server is optional, but could not find anywhere on HP web site what is gained by using MS SQL server as opposed to using included MSDE. Can anyone have answer to that? MSSQL server license cost approx 4500 CAD, so there should be a good reason why to use it instead of free MSDE.

Rule of thumb, although your mileage may vary:

MSDE: <500 servers and <5,000 events
SQL2000: <5,000 servers and <50,000 events

You should be very satisfied with MSDE for your size environment.
