Proliant DL380 G3
We configure our Proliant Servers with no disk drives and boot them from a Xiotech SANS using a Qlogic 2310F HBA. One cannot use SmartStart to install Windows because it sees no disk drives. We use the Windows install disk to install windows then apply PSP after the installation. This process has worked flawlessly for Windows 2000 SP4 (slipstream) and Windows 2003. Today I used Windows 2003 integrated with SP1 (slipstream version) then applied PSP 7.3. The System Management Home Page displays no system information, for example, System Model = Unknown.
I installed a hard drive into this server, used SmartStart 7.3 to install Windows 2003 SP1 (slipstream version) and the System Management Home Page displays the correct information.
What must I enable within Windows 2003 SP1 to allow HP Agents access to system hardware information.
Comparing the two systems:
boot.ini match.
WMI Services are enabled

Re: Windows 2003 SP1 + PSP 7.3 = Model Unknown
Thank you
When Windows 2003 SP1 (slipstream version) installs the "SNMP Service" it enables properties/security tab/Accept SNMP packets from these hosts but does not add localhost to the acceptable host list. Therefore, HP System Management Homepage cannot communicate with the HP Management Agents via SNMP.
When performing a full install of Windows 2003 SP1 using SmartStart, SmartStart installs the SNMP Service, enables the same SNMP Service feature but adds localhost to the acceptable host list.
Thanks Again

Re: Windows 2003 SP1 + PSP 7.3 = Model Unknown
Windows 2003 SP1 has the DEP data execution prevention enabled in the boot.ini. This will cause SNMP to be disabled and causes problems with all HP services. This site: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;875352 explains the configuration.
