Compatible 10GbE NIC's - DL180 Gen 9
Good day,
Which 10GbE NIC's are compatible with the DL180 Gen9 without its fans spinning up? Our server is in an office environment and it's really disturbing.
I have a collection of Mellanox, QLogic, and Intel adapters, so I'd like to reuse some of them if possible.
The server SKU is: 833978-S01

Re: Compatible 10GbE NIC's - DL180 Gen 9
Hi !
Did you find a compatible 10GbE NIC with your DL180 Gen9 ? We are in the same situation and the answer you had is not helping because we choose the 560SFP+ from the list (HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter 665249-B21) and the fan are 80% !!
Thanks in advance for your help

Re: Compatible 10GbE NIC's - DL180 Gen 9
Hello,
This card HP Ethernet 10Gb 2-port 560SFP+ Adapter 665249-B21 is a very well-supported DL180 Gen9 server.
Follow the below link for more clarifications.
HPE ProLiant DL180 Generation9 (Gen9)

If you are facing a fan issue, it is a different issue.
For Fan issue: I would suggest you update the server bios and all firmware with the latest.

Re: Compatible 10GbE NIC's - DL180 Gen 9
All firmware/bios is up to date. Maybe it’s not the card but why all is working like a charm when the card is not inserted ?
I’ve read a lot of testimony about this and the solution was bios/firmware update for some models but for this one it was to remove it…
If you have a solution I’m fully open, do I have to buy more fans ? Can it be a sensor issue (but all sensors reports were presents in lilo and normal)
Best regards,

Hello,
I would suggest, you have to log a proper case with HPE and share the appropriate logs for further analysis.

Re: Compatible 10GbE NIC's - DL180 Gen 9
Sadly the warranty is expired on this one. We will try 2 others cards and if it's not working we will search for another brand of server (the price of the post warranty extension is nearly half of the price of a new server).
Our problem seems to be very common. We found a lot of other testimony like mine. So no mister, the 560SFP+ is not compatible with the DL180 G9 and nobody at your firm didn't really check (and we lost some money because of that).
