DL380 Gen 9 BIOS download

Good afternoon-

I have a customer who is looking for BIOS P89 2.22_07-18-2016 for a DL380 Gen9.  I currently do not have a server that is in warranty for me to download this.  Is there some other way I can acquire this download?

Any information is appreciated.  Thank you!

Re: DL380 Gen 9 BIOS download

Hello,

Is there any way to update the BIOS without a contract?

This is a old server only used for testing and does not worth to keep a contract on it.

thanks

@IvanPA

Updating the BIOS on an HPE server without a contract may be possible, but it depends on the specific model and the policies HPE has in place. Generally, HPE provides BIOS updates and firmware updates through their support portal, and access to these updates may require an active support contract or warranty. Here are some options you can explore:

>> Visit HPE's official website and navigate to the support section for your server model. Check their policy regarding BIOS and firmware updates. Some older servers might have downloads available to the public without requiring a contract.

>> You can contact HPE's customer support and inquire about the possibility of obtaining BIOS updates without a contract.

Hope it helps!

These are my opinions so use it at your own risk.

Re: DL380 Gen 9 BIOS download

The fact that HPE forces people to have a contract on EOL hardware is absolute garbage...   I can go to dell any day of the week for my R810 server and get the latest of whatever was release with our without a service contract...  This is nothing but a money grab by a greedy company who doesn't give a  about their client base... #neverbuyingHPAGAIN!

Just an FYI - I have an HPE ProLiant DL380 Gen9 server, and do not have any kind of contract with HPE. The firmware, BIOS and Drivers for the system are still availalbe, as long as you: 1) have an HPE user account & 2) add your system to the "My Products"/Assets page using the device's serial number.

The page you'll want to go to is https://support.hpe.com/connect/s/assets

Then you just click on the big "+" button next to "My Products" and add your system. Once the server is added, you just click on it and you'll be taken to another page featuring your device with several tabs. Just click on the "Drivers and Software" tab, and choose the category that you're looking for. I'm not sure why none of the other people who replied to you couldn't tell you that, but it thankfully is that simple.

(Edited for the typo's I noticed and to tag the users looking for this information.)

@rcolancecco

Unfortunately that is wrong.  Having your hardware registered isn't enough, you can download some firmware but others (like BIOS) require "An active warranty or support agreement covering Proliant servers must be linked to your HPE Support Center profile to access this BIOS." So you are forced to have an active contract that costs more than the EOL server just to have a BIOS file availbale to download. That is really garbage. Sadly also our company will look away from HPE if this is the customer service that the offer.

@ludikris1

Good day!

What is the exact issue you are having here:

Facing any error while adding the service contract details?

Or getting any issue while attaching the image here in Community?
