2 years ago I bought a Gen10+ and separately an iLO5. These sat in a corner until last week when I figured out how to install Ubuntu 24 which has mdadm built-in for software Raid1 confguration.
I went through the BIOS setup and configured the ILO. I set the IP addressing info, changed to default Adminstrator password and created a local user with full permissions. I rebooted the system, and tried to log in with Firefox on a Fedora41 system. I could not log in. Either for Adminstrator or my new user.
I read that the default Adminstrator is the ILO serial number. So I reset the card to factory defaults. Did not change Adminstrator password or add my own ID. I used all the serial numbers I could find. The one on the label sealing the anti-static package. A barcode on said anti-static package. The serialnumber on a barcode on the card (which is the same SN I see in the ILO config). None of them work for Adminstrator. A friend said that his came with a lable and that the default password is 8 characters (SN on card is ILOMXQ2450H25). There was no such label with my card.
I then added a user and left Adminstrator alone. It does not work.
So basically, it seems I am totally locked out of the iLO. what can I do to log into it?
Oh, the Gen10+ is operating with Ubuntu 24 and 2 Raid1 groups.
thanks

Re: Gen10+ iLO5 password problems
Dear rgmhtt
As you said that you have reset password of iLO5 from BIOS/RBSU menu. So I can suggest you, please configure iLO IP first from RBSU/BIOS menu. then open iLO web page on your system. provide credential as USERNAME (Administrator) and password (Given on server main sticker on the TOP as PASSWORD). or you can add an user from RBSU/BIOS menu with your own credential. please check below snap for default administrator password.
Hope, I could provide you with clear and helpful instructions. If you have any more questions or need further assistance, don't hesitate to ask. I'm here to help!
Have a great day!!
Thanks & Regards...
Rabindra

Re: Gen10+ iLO5 password problems
There is no tag on my iLO5 as you show. Nothing in the box. I pulled the card, yet again, and no tag on it. Perhaps I have a fraud unit? I would upload pics of the card and box, but they are too large, and I will have to look for some tool to shrink them.
To restate. I cannot log in. Not with administrator or userid I added.
I am looking for hponcfg to add to my Ubuntu 24 installation. That may work.

SolutionI received no help here on this matter.
I did find out about the hponcfg utility from running down many links to:
Problem is this did not get hponcfig installed in Ubuntu. A friend on the Ubuntu list helped by pointing me to:
and then how to install it. Not easy. Once I had hponcfg installed, I was able to use
https://support.hpe.com/hpesc/public/docDisplay?docId=emr_na-c03487111
to change the Administrator password and FINALLY log into the iLO.
Very poorly documented and took a lot of help elsewhere, though as you can see the information is buried in pieces here in the forum.
At least I am now logged into the iLO.
