HPE 0x1x8 possible usages
Hallo,
in my project we use the HPE 0x1x8 switch. I have read that it is analogue, but can be used also as an IP KVM thanks to a USB dongle.
We are currently connecting three PCs to it via the KVM USB/Display Port Adapter (AF654A) and everything works fine, but we would like to galvanically separate the PCs and the KVM switch passing through a connection via fiber. We tried with two Media converters in series (https://www.alliedtelesis.com/de/de/products/media-converters/unmanaged/mc100-series#description-tab), but, of course, the solution does not work, because the output signal from the adapter is not TCP/IP.
Do you think that buying the dongle would be worth? Then, should I connect the PCs to the KVM switch via a network switch?
As an alternative, is it possible to galvanically separate the PCs from the Kvm switch?
Current working setup:
PC <-> KVM Adapter <-> Ethernet cable <-> KVM Switch
Current not working setup
PC <-> KVM Adapter <-> Ethernet cable <-> Media Converter 1 <-> fiber optic cable <-> Media Converter 2 <-> Ethernet cable <-> KVM Switch
Thanks in advance.
