HPE InfoSight for Servers
HPE InfoSight for Servers is now available. A few people jumped on it the day it was released and reached out saying they weren't seeing any data yet. Specifically, they had registered the iLO Amplifier with InfoSight but were not seeing anything. Here are some tips and resources to make sure you have it set up correctly.
- A great starting point is the Getting Started Guide. For deeper information, there is the User Guide..
- You have to actually configure iLO Amplifier to connect to InfoSight. ThereтАЩs a configuration dialog in iLO Amp where you configure that and it requires a port to be opened and most likely a proxy servers to be configured.
-
The heartbeat data for each server is transferred every 10 minutes and should show up in that time. The AHS data is transmitted once per day and could take 24 hours based on the number of servers. If youтАЩre having issues seeing your servers, see the Getting Started Guide and troubleshooting section of the User Guide.
For an overview of HPE InfoSight for Servers, see the article on our Server blog titled HPE InfoSight: Playing in a league of its own and now available on HPE servers.

Re: HPE InfoSight for Servers
iLO Amplifier Pack does not communicate to the server through the operating system. iLO Amplifier Pack coomunicates to the server through iLO. It doesn't matter what operating system is running on the server. Step #6 of the getting started guide covers how to configure iLO Amplifier Pack to discover the servers.

Re: HPE InfoSight for Servers
What are you talking about? The iLO AMP pack only comes in .OVA format. this is for VMware.
Installing iLO amplifier pack
Prerequisites
Registration email from HPE containing the download link and activation key.
A host server configured with VMware ESXi 5.5 or later.
A laptop or desktop system that has VMware vSphere Client installed or a supported web browser.

Re: HPE InfoSight for Servers
Let me provide a more detailed explanation.
You need 1 iLO Amplifier Pack instance to gather the telemetry and sensor data from each server and send pass it to InfoSight.
iLO Amplifier Pack communicates to each of the individual servers through iLO. It doesn't matter what OS/hypervisor (Windows, Linux, VMare ESXi, etc.) is installed on each individual server as the communication between iLO Amplifier Pack and the iLO of each individual server is over the iLO management network (not through the host OS over the production network).
Today, iLO Amplifier Pack is released as an VMware ESXi appliance and needs to run on a server running VMware ESXi. iLO Amplifier Pack scales to 10,000 servers, so customers typically have 1 iLO Amplifier Pack instance per datacenter.
See the "getting started guide" for more details on how to download the iLO Amplifier Pack appliance and configure 1 iLO Amplifier Pack appliance to connect up to 10,000 servers to InoSight (regardless of the OS/hypervisor running on the individual server).
Do you have 1 VMware ESXi server on which you can run the iLO Amplifier Pack appliance? If not, are there other hypervisors in your environment (e.g. Hyper-V), where the iLO Amplifier Pack appliance can run?
