Network Management Module Q1C17A doesnt Boot and keep restarting

I am experiencing a problem with several network cards that I check for proper operation when installing ups on customers (the model of ups is hp R/T 3000 G5).

At first when the machine is off i take out the card and change the position on the 3 pin to reset the admin password to default, then i put it back in and start the ups.

The problem is as follows, the card during the startup process raises the Warning led together with the On led for about 4 seconds then goes off for about 2 seconds this process is repeated all the time. Ιf i connect the ethernet cable ,the Network Speed Led and the Network Link/Activity Led also go off every about 4 seconds. I can't connect to card via ethernet or serial cable.

I guess the card can't boot properly.

Has anyone encountered the same problem? Is there a solution?

The version of the firmware that most working cards have is 1.5.7.

Re: Network Management Module Q1C17A doesnt Boot and keep restarting

Hello,

If the issue is the same with multiple cards and they were all reset, then could it be verified that the reset was done correctly and that subsequent to the reset the pins were set correctly?

Regards,

Re: Network Management Module Q1C17A doesnt Boot and keep restarting

@MV3

First of all, I want to inform that the ups's was shutoff from the date of purchase. (the ups's were previous used) I was the first that put them in operation. I have 7 cards with the same problem (and 36 without any problem) all cards has the yellow tape that covers the dip switches, which had definitely not been opened again or removed. When I check the first 3 defected I change the method of reset. Initially I put the ups in operation I wait for the card to finish boot (warning led goes off an only green blink)the I turn off the ups I remove the card, remove the yellow tape, change the dip switch position and reinstall the card. After that, I put the ups into operation again. I could have hot unplugg and plug it again but i didn't. I was notice that one of the cards that in first operation was normally boot, by contrast we the others, after reset develops this ''glitch'' malfunction.

I also notice that the dip 3rd switch (reset) connected via a resistor to a nxp 8523T RTC and Calendar at interrupt_1 /clkoutput Pin 7.

How? Can I do that without product in warranty?

@iliasmp

It seems like you've already conducted a thorough investigation and attempted various reset procedures. The fact that the issue persists across multiple network management modules, and in some cases worsens after a reset, indicates a more complex problem.

Given the specific details about the dip switches being covered with yellow tape and the potential connection to an NXP 8523T RTC (Real-Time Clock) and Calendar, it could be related to firmware corruption or an issue with the communication between the components. If your products are no longer under warranty, you may still explore the following options/Suggestions:

1. Since the dip switch 3 is connected to an NXP 8523T RTC, check for any visible signs of damage or irregularities in that component. It's possible that an issue with the RTC is affecting the module's boot process.

2. If feasible, consider temporarily disconnecting the connection between the dip switch 3 and the NXP 8523T RTC to see if it has any impact on the behavior. This will help determine if the RTC is contributing to the problem.

3. Reach out to technical support again, providing them with the additional information about the RTC and the observed behavior after resets. They may have specific insights or recommendations based on this new information.

4. Research if there are any known issues or firmware updates related to the NXP 8523T RTC or the specific network management module model you are using. The support documentation might contain relevant information.

Remember to exercise caution while handling hardware components, and if you are unsure or uncomfortable with any procedures, seek professional assistance. It's a unique situation, and the support team is likely the best resource to help you resolve this specific issue.

Hope this helps!

@stropava

Try completely power off the completely power off the module, disconnect it from power, and wait for a minute before reconnecting and powering it back on.

Check all cables are securely connected. Sometimes, loose connections can cause boot issues.

Refer to the user manual for the specific meaning of the LED states. The combination of the green and red LEDs could indicate a specific fault.

If possible, try resetting the module to its factory defaults.

If none of the above steps work, please contact the support for further help.
