Hello toegether,
i've ordered serveral DL360 G10 8 SFF with the aditional 2SFF-Bay to be able
to have 10 drives per server.
Servers will be used to deploy a storage solution, thus a raid level is not needed.
In the Quickspecs of given Serer ( https://h20195.www2.hpe.com/v2/getdocument.aspx?docname=a00008159enw ) i noticed the server has 4-SATA Ports available:
2x 4x SATA
1x 2x SATA
1x 1x SATA
From my understanding, i can connect the backplane of the DL360 to two of the 4x SATA Ports and the additional 2SFF-SATA Backplane to the 1x 2x SATA Port and everything works as expected.
OR i could order an additional P816 and use it in HBA mode.
I've searched trough the internet but couldnt find a more detailled specification of the sata ports/controller of th e dl360. Is there a speed / performance advantage of the Raidcontroller compared to just use the given sata ports?
4 Drives seems to be connected to one 4x SATA-Port. is the bandwith of the port shared across the drives
thus the speed is slower? Are there any other problems with using them iam not aware of?
Drives will be all flash.
Thank you for any help!

Re: Question regarding SATA Ports of DL360 G10
Hello,
You can use the onboard S100i SR controller but this is an entry-level controller. If you are looking for performance, I would suggest following the bellow Gen10 SA controller user guide before purchase.

Re: Question regarding SATA Ports of DL360 G10
Hello,
thanks for the feedback. In my case i dont need a raidcontroller and would want to use just the SATA-Ports of the server.
Do i need to use the S100i if i want to use the onboard sata?
