Raid configuration - Change bay no

Good day,

we built 5+1 raid 5 and set up no.t slot as a spare.

unfortuntately, the slot 2 deform. We could not enject the hdd out.

The orignal volume setup as HDD 1/2/3/4/5 + HDD6(spare)

So that could you guide if the valume configuration changed to hdd1,,3,4,5,6 and leave hdd2 as spare without damaged to file?

Re: Raid configuration - Change bay no

Hello,

If a hard drive is configured as a spare for a drive array, on failure of the hard drive in the array , the spare would take its place and the rebuild will commence.

You may access the Smart Storage Administrator and check which hard drives are part of the array. Once the rebuild is complete, you may remove the defective hard drive as well.

Re: Raid configuration - Change bay no

Sir,

Agree that, but  the spare not built as aut.  The spare was built as dedicated. It will be needed to replace with new HDD intead of auto.

In the scennario, If I change the other 5+1 (means the 1 changed to other slot instead0 all the file will be clean up or not?

Hello,

Before making any change to the RAID array, ensure that the rebuild process has been completed.

Once the rebuild has been completed, then you may change which drive should be treated as a spare.

Re: Raid configuration - Change bay no

@TVVJ

Hello,

I am not explaining clear for above.

I mean if change the memer of Raid 5, Is the data on that valume erased or not?  (5+1 dedicated)

Form example, member before is bay1/2/3/4/5, member after is bay1/6/3/4//5,  wich the changing will cause the all the data erased.

Due to the server in serviing on board vessel. There is about a few hours left for rebuilding. I have to collect all possible information for this building.

If the data will be erased, we have to request onboard two times. Otherwise, we could request on board ing one time only.
